Why Support This Initiative ?

The Health Essentials Access Initiative at the University of Arkansas is dedicated to promoting student wellness by improving access to essential hygiene and safety products across campus. This initiative recognizes that access to basic health necessities is a critical yet often overlooked component of student success, dignity, and well-being.
By placing free, discreet Health Essentials baskets in high-traffic campus buildings, the initiative helps ensure that students have consistent access to the products they need to feel safe, confident, and supported in their daily lives.
These baskets provide students with essential items such as menstrual products, deodorant, hand sanitizer, and personal safety supplies, allowing them to address immediate needs without fear of judgment, embarrassment, or stigma.
By offering these resources in accessible and discreet locations, the initiative helps remove barriers that can negatively impact students’ physical health, mental well-being, self-esteem, class attendance, and overall academic performance.
The Health Essentials Access Initiative operates through strong partnerships with the University of Arkansas Associated Student Government (ASG), SEAR, and multiple campus sororities and student organizations.
These collaborations are central to the initiative’s success, allowing for coordinated donation drives, strategic basket placement, and ongoing maintenance and restocking efforts.
By working closely with student leaders and campus offices, the initiative ensures that resources are distributed where they are needed most and remain consistently available to students.
At its core, the Health Essentials Access Initiative prioritizes dignity, accessibility, and collaboration. It seeks to foster a campus culture where students are supported not only academically, but holistically recognizing that basic health needs must be met for students to thrive.
Through long-term partnerships and sustained campus engagement, the initiative aims to create a more inclusive and supportive environment where all Razorbacks can focus on their health, confidence, and academic success without unnecessary obstacles.
